In the 1830s, Joseph Goddard, a chemist from Leicester, England, developed a strong passion for exquisite silver items. He often appraised valuable silver possessions for wealthy families in the country. However, the rise of electroplated silver, a more affordable alternative, posed a challenge as existing cleaning products couldn't effectively maintain these pieces. After numerous attempts, Goddard successfully formulated a unique silver polish that could remove tarnish while preserving the object's beauty. This accomplishment was recognized with six gold medals at the 1885 American Exposition.
