This product is designed to repel both cats and dogs. It contains a highly perfumed repellent that they find offensive, which confuses their sense of smell. Additionally, it masks the residual odors of any previous excrement or urine that would normally attract them. Keep Off is a training aid and it may take time to break habits, so it may not always work immediately.
Over a period of 4-6 weeks, cats and dogs can be trained to avoid the treated areas. However, there are exceptions, and some pets may require a longer training period. It's common for dogs and cats to excrete where the repellent has been placed or even eat the product. This is their way of reclaiming "their" territory and trying to cover up the smell of Keep Off with their own scent. Young puppies might also take longer to respond.
